Your diet is so important to your overall health. So many people are asking, “How can you improve your diet and eat better?” Here are a few simple tips on eating better and how to improve your diet.

Eat Better: How Can You Improve Your Diet?

Reduce Saturated Fats

Cream, whole milk, butter, shortening, cheese, coconut oil, and lard are all saturated fats that taste good but are very bad for your heart health. Saturated fats can raise bad LDL cholesterol and hurt heart health. You definitely don’t need to cut out saturated fat completely from your diet, but you should cut down your intake. Try to eat more healthy fats in foods like olive oil, peanut oil, avocados, nuts, and seeds.

Eat Lean Proteins

Protein is so important for your health. Your body needs protein to live! When you digest proteins, they are broken down into smaller parts called amino acids. Amino acids are found in meat, milk, fish, eggs, soy, beans, legumes, nuts, and some whole grains.

Medline Plus gives a great list of some healthy sources of protein that you should add to your diet.

Some healthy sources of animal protein include:

  • Turkey or chicken with the skin removed, or bison (also called buffalo meat)
  • Lean cuts of beef or pork, such as round, top sirloin, or tenderloin (trim away any visible fat)
  • Fish or shellfish

Other good sources of protein include:

  • Pinto beans, black beans, kidney beans, lentils, split peas, or garbanzo beans
  • Nuts and seeds, including almonds, hazelnuts, mixed nuts, peanuts, peanut butter, sunflower seeds, or walnuts (Nuts are high in fat so be mindful of portion sizes. Eating calories in excess of your needs may lead to weight gain.)
  • Tofu, tempeh, and other soy protein products
  • Low-fat dairy products

Add More Fruits and Vegetables to Your Diet

Fruits and vegetables are the best way to add low calorie nutrients to your diet.

Obviously, fruits and vegetables are healthy for you! But their importance can’t be emphasized enough! Fruits and veggies should make up the majority of your diet. This is because they’re full of vitamins and minerals and are low in calories. Most produce has high water content, which makes them very filling but very low in calories.

Take Supplements

One of the best ways to improve your heart health is to take l-arginine. L-arginine is an amino acid that helps your body produce nitric oxide, a molecule that helps your blood vessels dilate. This releases some of the pressure on your arterial walls, effectively lowering your blood pressure!

Circulation Boost is a great supplement to take if you want to increase nitric oxide. It contains 5110 mg of l-arginine to give you the results that you need! Try it out risk-free today!

Always consult with your doctor before you start taking a new supplement to make sure that it’s safe for you.
